Virginia Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel

All Prince William County Public Schools instructional personnel are required to show competency in the Virginia Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel (TSIP).
                                     FY 2015-16 School Year
The deadline for all new teachers hired after July 1, 2015 is January 31, 2016.
If hired after November 1, 2015, the deadline is April 1, 2016.
If hired after April 1, 2016, the deadline is September 1, 2016.

Technology competency may be shown in one of the following ways:
  1. College course work -You have completed a technology integration course within the last 7 years in an education program from a college or university. You will need to save a scanned copy of your transcript and course description in a shared folder on OneDrive or OneNote Notebook that is shared with your administrator and your ITC. The ITC will review your documentation and verify that it meets the requirements and will submit the TSIP Completion Form with the necessary signatures to Instructional Technology Services.
  2. Previous employment -You have completed the technology requirement through another school division. Save a copy of the certificate or proof of certification from the previous district  in a OneDrive folder or OneNote Notebook that is shared with your administrator and your ITC. The ITC will submit the TSIP Completion Form  with the necessary signatures to Instructional Technology Services.
  3. Virginia license- If "Technology Standards Have Been Met" is noted on your teaching license, Save a copy of the license in a OneDrive folder or a OneNote Notebook that is shared with your administrator and your ITC.  The ITC will submit the TSIP Completion Form with the necessary signatures to Instructional Technology Services.
  4. Technology Portfolio - You have not met TSIP requirements through options 1-3 above.  Therefore, you will complete the Technology Portfolio.  Click here for the Technology Portfolio Requirements document.  You will save all components of the portfolio in a OneDrive folder or a OneNote Notebook that is shared with your administrator and your ITC.  The ITC will submit the  TSIP Completion Form with the necessary signatures and the Portfolio Evaluation Checklist  to Instructional Technology Services.

ITC's submit completed TSIP Completion form (and the Portfolio Evaluation Checklist, for option 4) via email to ESGUERDJ@pwcs.edu

Full, 5 year license holders who meet the requirements for the TSIP, will not automatically receive a new license showing the TSIP has been met unless there were other changes made such as  changes in endorsement, name, an added degree, etc. or a license renewal.   At any time, all full license holders can choose to pay VDOE $25 (check or money order payable to Treasurer of Virginia, sent to the Certification office) if they want a replacement license generated (which will show the TSIP requirement being met if they’ve done so).  Most license holders will wait until their renewal or have another request (name change, new degree, etc.) of the VDOE in order to avoid an additional fee to get a new printed license early.
